The World of comics!

The Summer exhibition at Örebro läns museum 2009!

With an exhibition about comics, ÖrebroCountyMuseum together with Örebro Comic Book Society wishes to attract an audience of all ages. This is an exhibition where both teenagers and grandmothers will find something recognizable and something new to learn. Comics can at its best be a common interest that bridges generation gaps.

Comics have been around for a long time and are part of the popular culture that surrounds us and that we all have references to. Comics span over a broad range, from fantastic superheroes to everyday realism. Comics may be the Disney comic book you read as a child, the satirical commentary in the newspaper or turned into art in the hands of Roy Lichtenstein or Andy Warhol. We can all relate to comics. Genres and styles changes over time but the foundation in the form of sequential frames remains.

Comics exist in most parts of the world and through globalization, and our direct contact with the outside world, we now have the possibility to learn about other types of comics. The Japanese Manga comics for example, which you read from right to left and that influences young people today. The World of comics will touch on all these aspects of comics and it will include many original objects. We promise you a colorful, spectacular, funny and informative exhibition!

Activities for children and adults

Open guided tours
Guided tours (in Swedish) Guided tours of the exhibition will be held for the public Wednesdays and Sundays at 13:00. The tour is included in the entrance fee of 50 SEK.

Summer fun for children
Each first Saturday of the month - June 6, July 4 and August 1 — the museum arranges "Summer fun" for children where the children may draw their own comic strip, make magnets or pins and watch cartoons. Entrance fee: 30 SEK.

Workshop
In September several organized workshops will be held for youths and adults in the art of drawing comics. Different themes will be presented with professional comic book creators as supervisors.
